More than 500 registered buyers competed for the 31 females offered at the inaugural Pearls of Prime online female sale, which smashed expectations for sale high of $17,500.
Prime Angus co-principals Colin Flanagan and Pat Ebert, Warrenbayne, were "blown away" by the demand, resulting in the 31 lots grossing $204,500.
"They're starting to watch us now," Mr Flanagan said.
The top price, paid by an undisclosed major NSW Angus stud, was for lot 1, a Cherylton Stewie D19 PV daughter, with calving ease, low birth weight, and in the breed's top 10 per cent for Intramuscular Fat (IMF) at +3.4.
Of the PTIC heifers, the top price was crowned to lot 12, at $17,250, paid by a Tamworth-based Angus stud, bought through Nutrien Ag Solutions, for a Baldrige Beast Mode B074 PV, with strong calving credentials, a huge Eye Muscle Area of +8.8. The heifer was artificially inseminated to GAR Ashland and was backed up with Granite Ridge Quicksilver Q12.
Purchases went across the country and included volume buys by Shane Naish, Tamworth, NSW, with three lots to $7250, George Wade, Trafalgar, with three PTIC cows to $5000, George McCrohon, Holbrook, NSW, three to $6000 and Jason Little, Robertson, NSW with four PTIC cows to $6000.
