A small yarding at Kyneton saw few heavy cattle offered, with prices reaching the high 600 cents a kilogram for some weaner steers.
Agents yarded 380 head of steers, heifers and cows and calves.
In a lighter yarding, most of the cattle ranged in weight from 300-400 kilograms.
Nutrien Ag Solutions auctioneer James Wilson said while there wasn't the same competition as last sale, it was still "very buoyant.".
"Going back a few years ago, if you yarded those sort of numbers, they didn't attract buyers, but you yard cattle at the moment and they will come from everywhere." he said.

He estimated 60-80 per cent of the yarding went back to the paddock.
"There were a few of those plainer, off-bred calves - they probably sold a lot better last month, than they did this month."
Among the buyers were Beefed Up Holdings, the Ballarat Meat Company, Hardwicks and Highland Meats.
Elders Yea livestock agent Jamie Quinlan was joined at the rail by others from Kyneton, Pakenham, Ballarat, Wangaratta, Bendigo and Euroa, all buying for restockers and bullock fatteners.
Elders Kyneton livestock agent Dean Coxon said the market was dominated by local restockers.
"It highlights the season we have had, there's a lot of grass around and a few people are replacing the stock they have sold," Mr Coxon said.
"There was not a lot of processor action and not a lot of feedlot action either."
He said outside agents, including Mr Quinlan, were looking for numbers for their orders.
"Our cattle are well bred and come from the cold country, so they 'do' well for them.
"It was a very good quality yarding, there were no 'storey' sort of cattle, that's for sure - if they are light, it's because they are young."

Dylan Mercieca sold five Angus steers, 276kg, for $2000 or 724c/kg.
Bassett and Roberts sold three Angus steers, 323kg, for $2200 or 681c/kg.
J & M Dunn sold four Charolais steers,427kg, for $2400 or 562c/kg.
The Dunns also sold 10 Weemalah-blood steers, 375kg, for $2460 or 656c/kg.
Grant S Adams sold 15 Angus steers, 331kg, for $2260 or 682c/kg.
Adams also sold eight Angus-cross heifers, 318kg, for $1900 or 597c/kg.
Hiram Pastoral sold three Hereford steers, 381kg, for $2120 or 556c/kg.
