Euroa's monthly store sale was interfaced with AuctionsPlus after a coronavirus scare in the town saw restrictions placed on the number of people allowed in the yards.
A service station in the town was declared a tier one exposure site after a traveller with coronavirus stopped there.
Nutrien Delaney Livestock and Property auctioneer Anthony Delaney said the large drafts offered at the sale reflected regional producers' calving patterns.
"It was a very strong result and very similar to other spring-drop weaner sales we have seen," Mr Delaney said.
"There wasn't a huge weight in the top end."
Steers fetched between 550-600 cents a kilogram.
Mr Delaney said heifers sold "to a price" from $1400-1500.
Teys, Charlton, the Conroy Brothers and commission buyers Andew Lowe and Duncan Brown were active on the feedlot-weight cattle and steers over 350kg, while Alex Scott and Staff, Gippsland, also bought lines.
Agents yarded 2830 head of steers, heifers and cows and calves.
Elders Euroa's Joe Allen said it was a pleasing result.
"Those in-between cattle, around 400kg, were up to 520c/kg, which is a bit dearer than what we have seen in the last couple of sales," Mr Allen said.
"There was definitely a bit more competition coming from the feeder sector."
He said the scare did not have an impact on the sale.
"We had a pretty good gallery of professional buyers and agent representatives, so there was strong competition, right through," Mr Allen said.
"There were opportunities to pick up 300-350kg heifers, which were buyable under 500c/kg."
