Men's mental health was in the spotlight last week during the inaugural Fly Fishing Friday event, west of Melbourne.
The event featured the Bayer Big Fish Challenge aimed at raising cash and awareness for men's mental health.
Bayer CropScience supported the challenge with about 20 retailers taking part in the April 23 event.
Individuals and teams that register for the challenge upload the fish they catch through the Bayer Big Fish Challenge app.
"Bayer contributes $1 per centimetre of the largest fish per type caught by each team or individual to the Bayer AgSpirit Fund," A Bayer CropScience spokesman said.
"The funds are then used by the Fly Program to facilitate a number of fully-funded wellbeing programs, called AgSpirit retreats, to help rural Australian men in need of reprieve."
More than $300 was raised on Fly Fishing Friday at Millbrook Lakes to go towards the Bayer AgSpirit Fund.
Registrations for new individuals or teams are now open for the next Bayer Big Fish Challenge.
"Farmers, growers and any other interested individuals across rural Australia are encouraged to register on the dedicated app," the spokesman said.
Fly Program chief executive Matt Tripet held a number of mental wellbeing exercises on the day which have participants and opportunity to connect and support men's mental wellbeing.
Fly Fishing Friday forms part of this year's Bayer Big Fish Challenge which raised $21,714 from 120 teams and 374 participants in 2020.
