Small lots dominated Colac's March store sale, with one agent saying it was a solid sale of tail-end stock.
Agents yarded 1100 head of cattle.
Phil Douglas, Nutrien Ag Solutions, said there was a good spread of buyers, including Northern Victorian Livestock Exchange, Barnawartha.
"I noticed smaller cattle were booked through Nutrien Tamworth, NSW and Clark Roycroft was active on heifers and steers.
"There wasn't a great run of heavy cattle there, of quality, I would call it the tail end of cattle sold earlier on.
"There were nice little lines, of well bred cattle, but nothing substantial."
He said it was a solid sale, which didn't reach the heights of corresponding auctions at centres such as Ballarat.
"It's no different from what has been happening for the past couple of weeks," he said.
There were few lines of cattle, with many vendors offering lots of one or two steers and heifers.
"It was almost like a winter yarding - people are selling stock to take the good money and not hang on to what were tail-enders," Mr Douglas said.
"Normally they would hang on, feed them, put weight on, but a lot of people have figured 'why not take the money now',?"
Matt Nelson, Charles Stewart, agreed it was a mixed yarding, which sold "very well, considering.
"We had a few buyers from Camperdown way and the smaller lots meant it was probably a good opportunity for locals to get a few cattle," Mr Nelson said.
"In a mixed yarding, I thought they all sold very, very well - and the cross-bred cattle were as dear as anything on the day," Mr Nelson said.
