A HEIFER from a line with a 'winning history' has topped this year's Southern Success Speckle Park multi-vendor sale at Shepparton.
Epic Amy's Girl R8 was sold to Davena Speckle Park, Euroa.
Epic Speckle Park stud co-principal Mark Woolett, Penola, SA, said the price quickly raced up to $30,000, but "she was there to be sold" and the price finished up at $40,000.
"She is a lovely heifer, she is probably one of the best around at that age, so there was no reason why she wouldn't sell," Mr Woolett said.
He said as a half-sister to Epic Professor, a former reserve junior champion, the line had a bit of a "winning history".
"That would also be another reason why she sold so well," he said.
The April 2020-drop female was by Spots and Sprouts Stand Alone (P) White, out of Waratah Amy K77 (Black).
She was judged reserve champion at this year's Sydney Royal Show.
The heifer's milk measurement was 4, her eye muscle area was 0.8 square centimetres, rib fat was -1.1 millimetres and rump fat was -1.5mm.
She had a retail beef yield of 1 per cent and an intramuscular fat of 0.4pc.

Two bulls sold for $20,000 each - Lot 6, Keiross The Sugar Man Q49, from Keiross Speckle Park - KRS to Kurralea stud, and Lot 20, Epic Run Out R3, Epic Speckle Park stud, to Black Diamond Speckle Park stud, Davena Speckle Park stud and Jackungah Speckle Park stud.
Davena Speckle Park stud principal Danny Swain said he was impressed by the sire, Stand Alone.
"His females are consistently leading to some of the better bulls coming through," Mr Swain said.
"We have been quite keen to pick up some females by him."
He said it was intended to flush Amy's Girl to produce "good, functional, well-structured animals with good udders".
Davena's joint purchase of a bull with Black Diamond and Jackunga was part of its stud focus.
"They are a newer breed but I think commercially they are standing up and people are taking notice," he said.
"It's not just about the colour, when you hang them up they are getting results."
The sale was conducted by GTSM.
