Heavier steers were slightly cheaper at Euroa, but weaner calves maintained the prices of recent months, according to agents.
Agents yarded 838 head of steers, heifers and pregnancy-tested-in-calf females.
A line of very light heifers, from Carwellyn Park, sold for more than 800 cents a kilogram.
Wangaratta Nutrien Ag Solutions auctioneer Daniel Fischer said the run of January/February-drop calves continued.
"The money is bringing a few of those out of the woodwork," Mr Fischer said.
Commission buyers Graeme Ward, Albury, NSW, Duncan Brown, Wagga Wagga, NSW, and Wangaratta and Shepparton agents were very strong.
"We are only eight weeks from spring," Mr Fischer said.
"I think we are all starting to get a bit of a go up in some of these paddocks."
Nutrien Delaney Livestock auctioneer Anthony Delaney said it was a typical winter yarding.
Mr Delaney said the quality of the stock was a little bit better, in comparison with previous years.
"If anything the secondary quality - and lighter end - might have eased off a little bit," he said.
Older cattle were not in demand, and may have sold a little easier.
Steers between 200-300kg sold for 500-600c/kg.
"The 300-400kg was still around the mid-500c/kg, while over 400kg, was floating about 500c/kg, not much more," Mr Delaney said.
He said there were few heifers with weight.
"We are still in an area where a lot of people have had a season, so they are keeping them," he said.
V Lynas sold 15 Moranding Park-blood steers, 445kg, for $2130 a head or 478c/kg.
Dropmore Pastoral sold four Conamarra-blood steers, 429kg, for $2100 or 489c/kg.
Eve Schwarz sold seven steers, 427kg, for $2100 or 491c/kg.
Villa, Finley, NSW, sold 27 Scotts and Witherswood-blood steers, 8-9 months, 311kg, for $1840 or 591c/kg.
M Stewart sold nine Newnham-blood steers, 364kg, for $1990 or 546c/kg.
Casey Farms, Wildwood, sold 15 Margni Park-blood steers, 292kg, for $1760 or 602c/kg.
Upson Downs sold six Moranding Park-blood steers, 213kg, for $1400 or 657c/kg.
L Vearing, Gooram, sold nine Rennylea-blood steers, 311kg, for $1760 or 565c/kg.

Elders Euroa auctioneer Joe Allen said there was a good run of Angus steers from 350-400kg.
Mr Allen said Carwellyn Park had a run of 100, six-month-old Angus steers and heifers.
Carwellyn sold a pen of 20 heifers, 146kg, for $1175 or 810c/kg.
Their 22 steers, 169kg, went higher, selling for $1395 or 825c/kg.
"They were store to forward store condition, so they were not buying excessively-conditioned weaners," he said.
G&B Wheaton, Springfield, sold eight pregnancy-tested-in-calf heifers, Connemara and Rennylea-blood, for $2700.
M Wortman sold 34 Millah Murrah and Karoo-blood heifers, 318kg, for $1800 or 566c/kg.
M Stewart sold nine Newnham-blood heifers, 322kg, for $1680 or 521c/kg.
Clifton Park sold 17 Conamarra-blood heifers, 303kg, for $1730 or 570c/kg.
A & L Joseph, Merton, sold nine Witherswood-blood heifers, 311kg, for $1650 or 530c/kg.
