Studs to open their gates included Absolute, Macorna, Black Diamond, Fernhill, Merribrook, Merridale, Mount Major, Mystical and Strathvalley. Not already a digital subscriber? FERNHILL: Rowley Bennett, Fernhill Angus stud principal says they aim to breed animals with good fertility, structural soundness and good temperament. He believes his cattle have “excellent temperament.” Recent discussions at Fernhill have revolved around stayability, following a seminar Mr Bennett attended a few months ago in Wagga Wagga. “I value our older 12 and 13 year old cows because they are structurally sound. We need to be breeding more of those sorts of cows because they're the ones that are going to get better longevity,” he says.

FERNHILL: Fernhill stud have 59 bulls catalogued for their sale in late March.
