CONFIDENCE in the Yarram Park breeding direction resulted in the sale of hundreds of rams at the recent maternal and Southie terminal ram sale, which hit a sale high of $4600.
Of the 345 rams offered, 323 sold with maternal rams peaking at $4600 and Southie terminal sires selling to $2800, for an overall sale average of $1834.
"We were delighted with the result," Yarram Park general manager Jeremy Upton said.
"There were many return clients who showed confidence in our program, with a highlight of several new purchasers strongly supporting the sale."
New clients Lachie and Rosie Harris purchased the top-priced maternal ram, Lot 19, as well as Lot 33, for $3800.
Volume buyers on the day included long-time clients DCF Marine, who secured 21 maternal rams, for a sale average of $2457, Salt Creek Pastoral, Woorndoo, who bid strongly for 22 Southie terminals, and Murdeduke Pastoral purchased 21 Southies, averaging $1352.
New clients LJ and HK Higgins, Willaura, bought 19 Southie rams to bolster their prime lamb program, for a draft average of $1236.
Larkfield Pastoral, Yea, Peel Ag, Inverleigh, John Goldsworthy, Mortlake, and Coolana Rural, Woorndoo, all purchased more than 10 rams each.
Buyers were active through AuctionsPlus, which Mr Upton said played a key role in enabling interstate sales, with new clients Connorville Station, Tamania, able to secure 14 maternal rams, for an average of $1828.
Long-term clients Jakabul Pty Ltd, Apsley, purchased 11 rams through AuctionsPlus, for an average of $1054, as well as Highbank Pastoral, Young, NSW, with 10 rams averaging $2150.
