HOSTED online through AuctionsPlus on Wednesday, the 2021 Rabobank National Merino Ram Sale drew interest from both stud and commercial producers from across the eastern seaboard.
Overall 21 rams were sold from the 32 offered resulting in a 66 per cent clearance, $4550 average and $15,000 top price.

Woolbrook based Nerstane Merino stud sold the $15,000 sale-topping ram to the Plush family of Kerrsville Merinos, Coleraine, Vic.
Nerstane 190174 was the high-seller that weighed 124 kilograms and measured 17.7 in the micron with a standard deviation (SD) of 2.5, spinning fineness (SF) of 16.4pc and comfort factor (CF) of 99.8pc.
Sired by the 2017 Australian Ram of the Year, Nerstane 73, he was ranked in the top five per cent for all Merino wool indexes.
The second top-priced ram, offered by the Alfoxton Merino stud, Armidale sold for $10,500 to Keith McGrath of Billa Burra Burra Merinos, Yass.
Alfoxton 190258 was an AI son of Alfoxton 170095, the top-priced ram at Bendigo in 2019. He measured 17.5 in the micron with a 2.7 SD, 16.3pc SF, and 99.9pc for CF.

A commercial outfit based at Dalgety run by Bill Brewis and Sarah Woodhouse picked up another Nerstane ram, Nerstane 190060, for the third top price of $7750.
Weighing 146kg he was 18 in the micron, 2.6 for SD and 99.6pc for CF.
