Irrigators will learn how to better manage water price variability and reduce farm business shocks in years of high water prices during an upcoming webinar this month.
The Understanding and managing water price variability on farm presentation by Agriculture Victoria will help irrigators navigate through the jargon when dealing with water allocations.
"Information provided in this webinar will assist irrigators better prepare for the future," Agriculture Victoria senior irrigation extension officer Rob O'Connor said..
Topics that will be covered in the webinar include:
- Short-term and long-term drivers of the water market and their impact on water allocation price
- The impact of water market drivers on water prices in wet, average and dry seasons
- Pros, cons, economics and tips for using different water products
- Costing water ownership versus purchasing allocation
- Smart water allocation purchasing strategies.
The expert speaker will be industry expert Daryl Poole who has worked in the water industry for more than two decades.
"He works closely with irrigators, helping them to manage their water risk," Mr O'Connor said.
The irrigation webinars are currently being held monthly, with the initial focus on water trading.
