A yarding of about 1100 cattle greeted buyers at the Leongatha annual F1 heifer sale on Monday.
Nutrien Leongatha agent, Brian McCormack, said a good line up of cattle was forwarded.
He said when compared with where all sales were at the moment, this market was "pretty solid".
It was a sale that saw vendors happy with what they got and purchasers were happy with what they bought.
He said most heifers and calves stayed local and others to East Gippsland while buyers for the unjoined heifers included Bendigo and Cobram.
There was grass still growing with recent falls, he said.
Feature lines included a draft from Willawa Grazing, Foster, comprised Angus/Friesian-cross heifers sired by McIndoe and Hazelwood-blood bulls and with calves two to three months old at foot. The consignment sold in a narrow range of $3100 to a top of $3250.
S Harris, Stony Creek, sold five Hereford/Friesian-cross cows and calves for $3100. The same vendor had eight heifers that made $2600
A pen of 15 Angus/Friesian-cross heifer, joined to Mount William Charolais bulls, sold account A & B Buckland for $3100. Another pen of seven made $2550.
A line of five Charolais/Friesian-cross heifers with calves, eight to 10 weeks old, by a Limousin bull account D & E Perczyk, Hallston, that made $2975.
Bailey and Wyatt sold three Belgium Blue-cross heifers with calves at foot that made $3250.

The annual draft of joined heifers sold account JP O'Loughlin, Berrys Creek, made to a top of $2680. The heifers were Angus/Friesian-cross, joined to Limousin to start calving February 5. The top pen of 12 made $2650 with the balance selling for between $2180 and $2620 a head.
C & M Amor, Kardella, sold 11 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, joined to a Limousin bull that sold for $2675.
J & L Jenkin, Korumburra, sold 10 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers PTIC to Limousin, that sold for $2675.

Two pens came forward from L & L Hornby, Monomeath, with 10 Hereford/Friesian-cross sprnging heifers making $2500 and 10 at $2375.
In the unjoined heifer section Myrtlevale forwarded 18 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers that made $1830 and 11 at $1700 while the Hereford/Friesian-cross heifers made $1500.
B, D & M Calder offered a consignment of unjoined heifers, Angus/Friesian-cross by Harris bulls,with 13 making $1820 and 12 at $1740.
A draft of 36 Hereford/Friesian-cross heifers, account P Hall, Loch, sold to a top of $1680 and averaged $1590.
Thirty heifers account R & S Irvin, Mirboo North, sold in two lines with 15 making $1600 and 15 at $1540.
M O'Doherty sold 17 Hereford/Angus-cross for $1640 and S & R Brown offered five Hereford/Friesian-cross heifers that made $1500.
