Echuca agents yarded 800 cattle for their monthly store sale on Monday where prices for secondary types eased by $100 a head, agents said.
"We had a good run of spring-drop cows and calves with various ages and we had good runs of Angus cows with spring-drop calves making from $2500 to $2800," Elders Echuca auctioneer Matt O'Connor said.
"We had a good run of locally-bred yearling and weaner cattle with some dairy content and secondary cattle which sold to cheaper trends and might have been $100 to $140 cheaper."
Local restockers underpinned the sale which was also supported by agents from BR&C Agents, Swan Hill, and TB White & Sons, Ballarat, along with Westside Meats.
J Brian, Tongala, sold 14 Australis steers (50 per cent South Devon and 50pc Angus), 385kg, 9 months, which made $1630 or 423c/kg.
Thyra Park sold six Limousin heifers, 372kg, which made $1530 or 411c/kg.
"We didn't have too many joined cattle - I think the will come on as we get later into the early autumn - but we had a very good run of locally-bred yearling and weaner cattle," Mr O'Connor said.
FP & Nevins Co auctioneer Hamish Hooppell, Echuca, said the market eased due to a shortage of cattle given it was the last sale of 2020.
"We had yearling Charolais-cross steers from NSW which weighed about 360 kilos and sold out to $1570," Mr Hooppell said.
"We also sold Angus yearling steers from the Riverina which weighed approximately 330 kilograms and made $1420."
E Simmons, Stanhope, sold seven Blonde d'Aquitaine Hereford-cross heifers, 370kg, for $1430 or 386c/kg.
