The strong ram selling season continued on at Glendemar Multi-Purpose Merinos. 136 rams sold to a top of $11,000 and averaged $2885.

Glendemar sold under a new COVID safe system where the rams were penned outside the selling area, and rather than having the rams run through a parade ring, they were videoed and displayed on a big screen individually.

The new system was received well and wouldl become a selling solution of choice in the future.

"The videoing and selling of rams in a completely new way opens up a new format that we are keen to stick with," Glendemar MPM principal, Ben Duxson, said.

"We will continue to increase the Australian Sheep Breeding Value (ASBV) traits collected, add more descriptive traits and look to digital marketing into the future. It is a complete client/seller trust situation where buyers can buy with confidence and be satisfied when the rams arrive."

Glendemar MPM sale was dominated by long term repeat clients. Clients who have been using Glendemar genetics are reporting weaning rates well above the industry average and have been rewarded with high lamb prices and strong surplus ewe sales.

Mr Duxson said Glendemar had a heavy focus on ASBV's, along with 20 years of non-mulesed Merino's and many of their clients were happy to pick rams on the back of the figures and trust that the structure and wool were up to scratch.

This was evident when 42 lots sold through AuctionsPlus.

New client and volume buyer Chris and Janet Nominee's, Kaniva, who had never seen the rams before but were advised by a long term Glendemar client that the rams would "take him to where he needed to go from a breeding point of view", Mr Duxson said. They bought 10 rams at $2100 average.

Barooka Trust, run by Deane and Henry Goode, Kingston, SA, clients for more than 20 years, continued to support the Glendemar MPM genetics with 12 rams purchased for a $3125 average.

Howard and Chris Frampton, Joel Joel, continued a 55-year tradition of buying Glendemar MPM rams, and on the back of a 140 per cent lambing rate this year, purchased 12 rams to average $2250.

No stranger to buying the top Glendemar MPM rams Dean and Denise Trotter, Perillup Estate, Mt Barker WA, who have been buying for over 25 years, again operated at the top end of the sale buying the top priced ram for $11,000 and two others for $7500 and $6500.

Thirty-year-plus client Martin Long, Wareek, continued his strong support for Glendemar MPM genetics buying five rams to a top of $4500.

Brad and Roxanne Wood, Beauvalley Farming Kendenup, WA, paid a total of $28,000

for six rams. The Peters family, Cleve, SA, purchased five rams at $3950 average and Russell and Alan Pitcher, Skipton, got the selections he wanted, paying an average of $5000 for his five rams.

The Dunstan family Eudunda, SA, purchased two rams via AuctionsPlus.

Western district clients Stacey Partners, lead by Brian Stacey, made sure he got the selections he required paying up to a top of $9000 for a team of rams.

Paddy, Bronny and Lucy Fenton, Vasey Farms, put together a fantastic line of nine rams to go to their property south of Balmoral, while Glendemar neighbors Herbie and Marcia Duxson, Linden Pastoral, bought nine rams and David and Lana Lang secured four.

Joe Gilbertson, Parilla, SA, returned as a Glendemar client after a long absence and took home three Rams.

Mr Duxson said the ram sale result came off the "back of a sensational ewe sale" the week before when he sold 725 one-year-old ewes for a $334 average going to two long-term Glendemar MPM clients in NSW restocking after the drought.

"The fundamentals of the sheep industry are sound, we have positioned ourselves and our clients to reap the rewards on offer in a strong sheep market, have easy care, high fertility and labor-saving traits," he said.
