*50 of 50 rams sold to $2750, av $1211
This year's Clover Valley White Suffolk stud was declared a resounding success as rams sold to a new stud record top of $2750 and all rams were sold.
Stud principals, Brad and Naomi Medlyn, Stuart Mill, offered 50 rams that averaged $1211.
Brad Medlyn said the average was up $250 on the 2019 result and the top price was $150 above the previous best.
There were also 10 new buyers registered for the sale.
He said they had a COVID safe plan that everyone adhered to
The Medlyns said the rams were the "best yet".
The top lot was lot 2 that was bought by MG & JK Barrett, Gre Gre North. The May 15-drop was by K160282 a Kurralea ram, and weighed 108 kilograms and had figures of 54 millimetres eye muscle depth (EMD), fat depth of 12mm, birth weight of 5.1kg.
The same buyer also bought lot 14 at $1650.
Second top price was $2400, paid for lot six and bought account Elders St Arnaud. The ram was a August 30 drop by a epta Grove sire and weigched 102kg and had figures of 50mm EMD, 9mm fat depth and 4.8kg birth weight.
Lot 3 was the next best selling for $1900 to L & T Fernandes, Winjallok. The ram was a May 25-drop ram by Kurralea K160282. The ram weighed 104kg and had an EMD of 52mm, fat depth of 9mm and birth weight of 4.1kg.
Volume buyers included Elders Avoca which bought 13 rams to a top of $1600, averaging $1176.
Wilgra Park Farming Trust, Murtoa, bought six rams to a top of $1700 and at an average of $1283.
McKean McGregor, Bendigo, put together six rams paying to $1100and averaging $1025.
