With 1582 head yarded today at NVLX Wodonga, the majority of which were black weaner steers, values continued to be firm on current prices.
There were some excellent pens on offer, a reflection on good pasture growth through the winter.
Values for steers under 300kg ranged from $855 to $1375: while those under 400kg varied from $1320 to $1600 and those over 400kg sold from $1590 to $1920.
In the heifer pens those weighing under 300kg sold from $960 to $1300: while those weighing under 400kg sold from $1250 to $1435 and pens of heifers over 400kg varied from $1500 to $1615.
Very few pens of cows with calves on offer and they sold from $1830 to $2410.
Some indicative prices for steers included three yearling Angus weighing 473kg sold for $1830: 22 yearling Herefords weighing 465kg sold for $1775 and 27 Angus weighing 381kg sold for $1675.
Top price at $1920 was paid for one Angus steer weighing 585kg.
In the heifer pens three Angus weighing 353kg sold for $1435: while 20 Angus weighing 318kg sold for $1315 and 14 Herefords weighing 323kg sold for $1300.
The pen of six Angus-cross cows with calves sold for $1830.
Selling agents were Elders and Paull and Scollard Nutrien both from Wodonga.
