Victoria and Tasmania recorded snow across a swathe of country this morning as temperatures plummeted.
At Ballarat agents and staff - and animals - felt the brunt of the conditions and sheep and lambs penned for the day's trade sale also gathered a dusting.
Even the roof across the selling pens at the Central Victorian Livestock Exchange could't fully protect animals from the snow.
Elsewhere falls were also recorded in Western Victoria with further falls expected to fall in the north-east of Victoria as well as parts of Tasmania.
In Tasmania the falls come as Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Simon Louis said could return Tuesday night.
The Bureau also released a warning for icy and snow covered roads that would make driving conditions dangerous during Tuesday and Wednesday in parts of the North West Coast, Central North, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts, particularly on elevated roads.
Black ice was a risk on susceptible roads on Wednesday morning.
