Uncertainty regarding West Gippsland saleyards has spurred livestock and real estate business, Alex Scott and Staff to open a branch in Sale.
The new branch will open early in 2020, Alex Scott and Staff agent Neil Darby said.
"The uncertainty here in West Gippsland has driven the decision," Mr Darby said.
"A lot of clients say they do not want to sell cattle in Pakenham or Leongatha, which is the reason we've had to look at Sale as a selling option.
"Because VLE (Victorian Livestock Exchange) is closing the Wednesday and Thursday sales at Warragul, we'll have discussions with clients about how they want to market their cattle.
"It will be interesting to see what people do but I think VLE has overestimated the number of cattle that flow from Warragul to Pakenham after the sales finish."
Staffing arrangements for the new Sale branch will be announced early in the new year.
Alex Scott and Staff currently has offices throughout West and South Gippsland, including Berwick, Cowes, Grantville, Inverloch, Koo Wee Rup, Korumburra, Lang Lang, Leongatha, Melbourne, Pakenham, Venus Bay, Warragul and Wonthaggi.
It currently sells livestock, including sheep, beef, dairy cattle and calves, at Pakenham, Warragul and Leongatha saleyards.
