On Thursday, November 21, the Victorian Farmers Federation celebrated 40 years of advocacy as a federation.
The theme of the night was people.
The heart and soul of the organisation are the members who drive our policy direction, who attend meetings and engage with media and politicians.
I recognise the commitment made by those who step away from their businesses and travel to Melbourne to assist the VFF, but also to shape the future of our industry.
It was a fantastic opportunity to recognise Meg Parkinson with life membership of the VFF.
Meg encapsulates what it is to be an active member of the VFF.
She has been instrumental in achieving policy outcomes that have benefited labour, animal welfare and water policy to name a few.
The organisation is appreciative of her time, passion and knowledge that she has provided to the organisation, and a life membership is just a small way we can recognise her commitment.
The VFF now looks to the future.
As our farming systems embrace new advancements and technologies, as is the VFF.
In the new year, the VFF will be adopting new technology which will add further capacity to our ability to engage and influence government, industry and our membership.
As we move into this exciting new period, it is a great time for non-members to join the VFF family and make a mark on the industry we all know and love.
The VFF is an organisation with deep roots, strong heritage and a proud culture.
I encourage all farmers out there to become members.
Our industry is all the better for your involvement.
