For their annual on-property ram sale, the McGufficke family offered 80 Merino and Poll Merino rams bred in their Greendale stud at Cooma.
Speaking before the sale, studmaster Alan McGufficke said they are more interested in profit and production rather than profile and presentation.
Top price at $3800 was paid for a son of Greendale 16053 by Jack Glasson, Dalgety.
With a fleece measurements of 17.0 micron, 2.9 standard deviation and 99.5 percent comfort factor he was a standout among a very good line of rams.
Mr Glasson selected two rams together and was attracted to the top priced ram for his overall balance of figures which complimented his conformation.
"He is a very covered ram with great length and depth of body and heavy wool cut," he said.
"We will use him as backup in our A.I. program."
He was assisted in his purchase by sheep consultant Craig Wilson, Wagga Wagga.
The sale of 78 from 80 rams offered saw an average price paid $2200.
The sale was settled by Elders, Cooma with auctioneer Steve Ridley taking the bids.
