A crowd of more than 80 people saw the 21st annual Gemini spring on-property sale achieve record-breaking flock ram averages for the White Suffolk stud.
Lot 73, with an outstandingly low birth weight of .42, weaning weight of 12.6 and TCP of 158, achieved the highest price for the sale at $4000.
The ram was purchased by Anthony Ferguson, Anna Villa White Suffolk stud, Weetulta, SA, for Geoff Gale, Galaxy Park White Suffolk stud, Monarto, SA.
Mr Ferguson was on the way to the Gemini sale when contacted by the principals of Galaxy Park to purchase the ram on their behalf.
"Geoff knew what he wanted, and [the] combination of ASBVs and structure made Lot 73 a perfect addition to the stud," he said.
"He was a late drop ram and late in the catalogue and we thought we'd sneak him into the team, but others noticed his outstanding qualities too."
The highlight of the day was the flock ram average price of $1761, a record for Gemini.
"The rams were in outstanding condition, and the best we've ever presented for sale," Gemini principal Craig Mitchell said.
"And given seasonal conditions and the lamb market we're confident that the rams we're presenting are right for the market.
"We're aiming to present rams that produce maximum profit with minimal management and the number of repeat sales proves that."
Volume buyer for the day was Nathan Scott, Achieve Ag, who bought nearly 50 rams for his clients.
