Maine Anjou supreme exhibit goes to Wattle Grove

Grand champion bull: Wattle Grove Maine Anjou, Camden, NSW

Grand champion female: Morham Maine Anjou, Finley, NSW

A CAMDEN stud has taken out the supreme exhibit for the Maine Anjou breed.

Wattle Grove Maine Anjour also placed first in the grand champion bull and went head-to-head with Morham Maine Anjour stud, Finley, which claimed grand champion female.

Wattle Grove stud principal Scott Costello said he was over the moon with the result.

"He's out of a cow that I took to Sydney that won senior female at the Easter show this year and he's also gone to Bathurst on his own at six-months-old and got junior champion bull. He did the same at Orange.

"We're not too sure what we want to do with him yet, he is for sale, but we may milk him but it doesn't phase me that much but in terms of the competition we are very pleased."

Maine Anjou judge Glenn Trout said the condition and length of the bull was a credit to the stud.

"I haven't judged Maines before but structurally they were very sound cattle, not over conditioned but the soundness underneath the heal was very impressive," he said.
