When photos of Bob Farnsworth's Massey Ferguson 587 header hit Facebook it begged the question - is there a better example of this model still going around?
The Warrenmang farmers the Bob and Dianne can thank daughter Ashley - the self proclaimed "marketing and IT manager" of the business - for the reaction on social media.
Mr Farnsworth bought the 1972 model machine at a clearing sale near Newstead around 10 years ago.
"I was looking for a good, older header to harvest a small area of oats that I couldn't get a contractor interested in doing," he said.
"I bought it at the sale and drove it to the farm we had at the time at Glenorchy (about 140 kilometres away).
"I didn't even take the front off which did cause a few headaches along the way."
When the Farnsworths bought a farm near Navarre, the header was driven across and that's where it remains in a hay shed.
Ashley Farnsworth said there had been some inquiry after the photos appeared on Facebook.
The header is on the market for $2000.
One buyer was looking for a machine for a small farm, another wanted it for parts and a third was interested in it as a show machine.
Mr Farnsworth said the old machine always produced an excellent sample.
"It's got a 15 foot front. We used it for a few years, before I bought a bigger, slightly newer machine," he said.
"It was last used about three years ago. I put a new battery in it and it started virtually straight away.
"Nothing much can go wrong with these machines. It's got a three-cylinder Perkins diesel engine."
It does have an airconditioner and a different seat cushion in the cab.
