A multi-storey facility set to enrich learning at the Wesley College Glen Waverley Campus.

Construction is under way on a multi-storey facility set to expand enrolment capacity in Years 5 and 7 at the Wesley College Glen Waverley Campus.

It will create exciting new scholarship opportunities for students.

The new scholarship, aptly named the Glen Waverley Middle School Expansion Scholarship, is open to students for the 2020 school year.

The construction, expected to be completed by late 2019, will feature state-of-the-art facilities for students, including:

  • A whole campus library
  • A dynamic language centre, fitted with advanced acoustics, audio-visual equipment and a mini-theatrette.
  • A student-centred Year 9 precinct dedicated to preparing students for transition into Senior School
  • A STEM and design technology hub
  • A new chapel, with striking façade and views looking onto the natural landscape of the campus.

The facilities are set to further enhance Wesley’s position as a leading International Baccalaureate World School.

The building will be positioned at the centre of the Glen Waverley Campus, providing a centralised learning space that supports transitions through year levels.

Principal Helen Drennen looks forward to seeing the positive impact the completed facilities has on the students.

“I am eager to witness our vision for this contemporary campus redevelopment come to life,” Dr Drennen said. “This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring a number of our aspirations for the Glen Waverley Campus to reality.

“A carefully considered Education Brief has inspired the concept for this exciting development, which gives greater recognition to the transitions central in the adolescent school years.

“In the fire of 2016, we lost 10 classrooms including, six Years 5 and 6 homerooms and four language classrooms, which comprised part of the original school, plus the Middle School atrium and some staff offices.

“The redevelopment project, designed by award-winning Cox Architecture, represents the next stage of the Glen Waverley Campus development.

“Wesley College’s Glen Waverley Campus delivers unique learning opportunities, with full-time and weekly boarding options available.

“The college is a leading coeducational, open entry school. Established more than 150 years ago, the college has enriched the lives of thousands of students through its outstanding liberal, broad-based curriculum.”
