The Wycheproof special sheep sale saw lines of restocker lambs attract the strongest inquiry.
Elders manager, Wycheproof, Kevin Thompson, said these had the support of processors as well as some keen bidding from restockers to put some lambs away for the future.
He said the sale line-up had attracted strong inquiry before the sale and the as the sale went on it became obvious there was strong demand also for breeder’s first cross ewe lambs which sold exceptionally well.
All descriptions sold better than expected resulting in satisfied vendors, he said.
He said the lambs were fresh and well bred but not heavy and the price was “well up there with what we’ve seen this year”.
“Quality Merino ewes also sold well, but they were a little off the pace, then they were harder to sell,” he said.
“That’s been a trend for some time.
“Merino wethers, with the trade and some restockers, was very strong,” he said.
