A central Victorian intensive farm has sold for over $10 million.
The farm at Nagambie, Goulburn Valley Intensive Farms, contains two broiler farms totalling 14 sheds on 147 hectares.
Colliers International rural and agribusiness associate director Jesse Manuel executed the sale, which was previously contracted by Baiada Poultry prior to their exit from Victoria at the beginning of 2017.
It is believed the new owner has been able to secure a grower contract with another chicken meat processor, which Mr Manuel said is great news for the region.
“The farms offered terrific economies of scale with potential to share resources between the two properties for operational efficiencies, which was very attractive to interested parties,” Mr Manuel said.
Goulburn Valley Intensive Farms came with extensive on-site accommodation and high-quality support infrastructure including staff amenities, workshops and farm plant and equipment.
“The flexible zoning allowed for a range of poultry pursuits to occupy the property, which encouraged interest from layer and poultry breeding companies,” he said.
“It was fantastic to sell the out-of-contract farms to an operator that has the ability to use all of the infrastructure to its capacity.”
