Large crowd attends latest Wycheproof store sheep sale where First cross Border Leicester/Merino cross ewes with lambs at foot sold to $290.
Competition was varied and prices reflected that at the Wycheproof July sheep sale last Friday.
The yarding of 11,000 sheep included good quality lines of First Cross Border Leicester/Merino ewes with lambs at foot, scanned in lamb ewes, ewes not station mated and Merino wethers - both woolly and shorn.
Elders Wycheproof’s Kevin Thompson said competition was “solid” with most interest coming for the dry sheep - both ewes (NSM) and wethers.
The majority of buyers were from southern areas including East Gippsland, Ballarat, Hamilton, Stawell, Bendigo, Warrnambool, Naracoorte and Geelong. Other centres included Horsham, Swan Hill, Nhill and Shepparton.
Butchers also made purchases.
Mr Thompson said the market for ewes with lambs at foot and scanned in lamb ewes was firm.
Prices for all other types were marginally better considering the season in the buying areas
