The sixth round of Farmers’ Fund applications will close, at the end of the month.
Victorian Farmers Federation president David Jochinke said priority for the $10,000 grants would be given to dairy producers.
“The Fund is open to all dairy farmers located in the southern milk pool, however, priority will be given to fire-affected dairy farmers from south-west Victoria,” Mr Jochinke said.
The St Patrick’s Day fires burnt thousands of hectares, killed over 2,000 livestock, and damaged hundreds of farm businesses.
The extent of the devastation triggered the Victorian government to declare the fires a ‘state emergency’.
Mr Jochinke said the fund was expected to deliver up to $500,000 in grants in round six.
“These grants will contribute to the continuing recovery of south-west dairy farms,” Mr Jochinke said.
“The completion of the sixth round will bring the total amount of funds distributed as a result of the sale of Farmers’ Fund milk in Coles supermarkets across Victoria to about $2 million dollars to date.”
Unsuccessful round five applications will automatically be submitted to round six, however, applications from prior closed rounds will no longer be considered.
Applicants will need to reapply against current guidelines.
