THE BUSY southern weaner selling season has begun to wind down, and what a big few weeks it has been.
Saleyards across the state opened their gates to thousands of weaners, from hundreds of Victorian vendors, selling to the mass of buyers that came with big shopping lists.
Stock & Land’s market analysts Peter Kostos and Murray Arnel have covered a combined 20 weaner sales in the past month.
To achieve this the duo have traveled 21,000 kilometers across Victoria, analysed the sale of 55,000 head of weaners and sold an estimated $40,000 worth of livestock advertising.
These are significant numbers that have contributed to 70 pages of impressive coverage in Stock & Land.
This year marks 26 years Murray has covered the southern weaner sales wearing the Stock & Land shirt, and five years for Pete.
S&L’s senior journalist Alastair Dowie also joined the weaner sales tour, covering ten livestock sales across the western district.
