A total yarding of 8140 lambs was offered at this year’s 16th annual Tamar Valley Lamb Sale near Launceston, Tas, on Thursday.
The yardings were presented in very forward, sappy condition and would be some of the best the Archer Families have presented in some years, according to Greg Harris of Elders.
The usual line-up of repeat buyers, which bought up the majority of the lambs, along with some new faces kept competition as strong as has been seen at this sale for some years.
“Again we witnessed strong mainland support with 47 per cent or 3850 lambs getting a boat ride to Victoria,” Mr Harris said.
Greg Harrington and Lachie McAlaster, Elders Bendigo secured the majority while local buyers were again very supportive the sale.
Successful local buyers included the Bond Family “Eastfield” Cressy buying 1820, Rob Tole-Greenvale Pastoral, Cressy -592, Bradley Ag, Longford - 410, DL & VJ Grey, Devonport – 335 and DT & MD Hingston, Cressy -338.
