Stud Beef Victoria’s president, Ross Draper, on behalf of the committee, presented his widow Lorna Fry a plaque commending his dedicated service. Mr Fry was Stud Beef Victoria’s longest serving foundation member.
He passed away in May.
He and Mrs Lorna had Turramurra stud at Benalla for more than 50 years. He was a Dairy Shorthorn Association life council member.
Mr Draper said he was one of the three main people who established its handlers’ competition and Beef Week.
“I’m so pleased that norm was held in such high esteem to be worthy of such recognition,” Mrs Fry said.
“He loved cattle no matter what breed. He was a humble but proud man – and also a bit stubborn with his ideas, as some of you well know, but he was always willing to give if needed.
“We spent 65 wonderful yeas of our lives together.”
Mrs Fry thanked Karen Doggett and Malcolm Douglas for helping when her husband was too ill to sell “his beloved Dairy Shorthorns.”
