Frosts were expected across much of Victoria this weekend, according to Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) senior forecaster Peter Newham.
A high pressure system would develop over South Australia following a cold front, moving across the state on Saturday.
Mr Newham said the north and west would experience morning frosts, while there would be scattered showers across the south.
Snow was likely down to 700 metres but showers would contract to the southeast in the afternoon and evening.
It would be dry over the northern plains.
On Sunday, the high was expected to move rapidly northeast, as another cold front and associated low, developed over the Bight.
“There looks like being quite a bit of a frost event for the state, particularly the north and north-east,” Mr Newham said.
Another band of showers, bringing between five and 20 millimetres of rain, would move in ahead of the low, with falls most likely about the ranges.
