Wattle Park
Total clearance of 80 White Suffolk rams to $2400, av $1232
AFTER a total clearance of 80 White Suffolk rams, John Jamieson, Wattle Park, Finley, NSW, sold an additional 54 rams after his sale last Thursday.
The top-priced ram was snapped up at $2400, av $1232, by Landmark Euroa agent representative Colin Broughton, on behalf of Kerry Davis.
Nick Morona, West Burrabogie, Booroorban, NSW, purchased 37 rams at the sale.
Mr Morona has purchased rams from Wattle Park for numerous years, and said they help produce fat lambs for lamb production.
“We get a nice sized fat lamb out of them for sale, they produce quick growing lambs,” Mr Morona said.
“They’re big rams, with clean points, they’re very soft and well-muscled.”
John Jamieson, Wattle Park, said the sale was probably one of the best he’s had.
“We’re very happy with the results, particularly given we had those extra rams sell on the day,” Mr Jamieson said.
“There were plenty of buyers here, most of them were repeat buyers, but there were a few new buyers too, which was good to see.”
He said buyers came from all over Victoria and New South Wales.
“There were buyers from Deniliquin, Bendigo Euroa, Wodonga, Swan Hill and Ararat,” he said.
Mr Jamieson said buyers were returning because they’re getting good results with their prime lambs.
“They wouldn’t be coming back and back if they weren’t getting results in the field,” he said.
“They’ve got an ease of lambing, put plenty of lambs on the ground, and the suckers are finishing early and going to market.”
Russell Mawson, Landmark Euroa, said Wattle Park had offered very eye appealing rams.
“The rams held their own and presented beautifully, it was a good, solid sale,” Mr Mawson said.
Drew Chapman, West Plains, also sold 28 of 30 Poll Merinos at the sale, topped at $3250, av $1986.
