More rams were sold and prices held firm at the third annual Forest Springs Merinos on-farm sale.
Principal Bruce Dean, Joel Joel, said he was pleased by the results of the helmsman style sale.
He said buyers were looking for wool cut and a good dual purpose animal.
Mr Dean said he aimed to breed robust, good doing sheep, with the ability to grow a heavy cutting, bold crimping wool.
“Everyone still has an eye on wool cut,” Mr Dean said.
Don Erwin, Emu, bought three rams including the $1800 top-priced for lot 8.
Sired by a Glenlea Park ram, the autumn drop sire weighed 107kg and its fleece measured 19.8 micron, 14.9pc co-efficient of variation, 3M standard deviation.
The ram had a yearling growth rate of 194 grams per day and a adult growth rate of 215g/day.
Elders Glendon Hancock said the 16 registered buyers, mainly from the local area, including five or six new clients.
The vendor was quite happy with the results, he sold 10 more than last year, and it’s just a stud which is still in its infancy.

He said buyers were attracted to the extra wool cut, on a plain bodied type skin.
“Bruce produces a very long stapled sheep and he has a number of clientele who shear more than once a year,” the agent said.
