Ten young auctioneers will soon contest the title of 2016 Australian Livestock and Property Agents Association (ALPA) Victorian Young Auctioneer.
The competition will kick off at 10:30am on Monday, September 19 at the Pakenham Victorian Livestock Exchange.
ALPA CEO Andy Madigan said the competition would be livestreamed for the first time, this year, following the success of that format for the New South Wales and Queensland events.
“It is an opportunity to celebrate the passion these competitors have for their industry and to encourage them to continue in their efforts,” Mr Madigan said.
The competition would be held in partnership with the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV)
Competitors would auction commercial cattle, assessed earlier as part of judging at the Royal Melbourne Show Prime Stock Competition.
The winner and runner up would have the opportunity to represent Victoria at the 2017 ALPA Young Auctioneers Competition National Final, held at the 2017 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Mr Madigan said based on industry experience and a strong selling background, a panel of three judges had been selected to identify this year’s winning auctioneer.
They would be evaluating the competitor’s diction, values, voice and manner as well as their ability to establish their own presence and a unique style.
