SA restockers had a massive influence on the result of the Warrnambool store cattle sale on Friday May 27th hotly pressured by a growing band of southwest operators seeking replacement cattle before the spring rush.
Operating in a penning of 2300 the yarding contained a clean-up display of heavier coloured grown steers along with a limited offering of mid-weighted black feeders.
The main of the southwest centre's May sale was the annual draft of the Moyne Falls Angus weaners from nearby Macarthur. Offering in light store condition and in the weight range of 180-250kg the steer portion of the Moyne Falls draft made to $1060, average $916 while its 250 heifers made to $820, average $735.
