Graham and Mary Wells' Jerilderie, NSW, based stud claimed one of the Australian Sheep and Wool Show's most coveted crowns ahead of teams from three other States.
It was a unanimous decision by the judges who praised the length of staple and style of wool on the winning pair.
Reserve in the pairs went to Jan Lowing and family, Karmala Merino stud, Nobby, Queensland.
In other big wins, the Crawford family, Rock-Bank, Victoria Valley, won the Australian fleece competition.
The supreme Merino exhibit will be announced on Sunday.
