MUCH of Victoria and southern NSW is in for a big weather change, from warm and humid to cool and windy, most likely the coolest since October.

This change will take place from Sunday as temperatures drop five to 10 degrees. Maximum temperatures will drop from the 30s to the low 20s as cool winds take over.
The low 20s are a distant memory for many locals, October was the last time the region had several days this cool. It may come as a bit of a shock, particularly because the winds will be quite brisk too.
In the meantime there will be quite a lot of rain for the region, the most rain in months for some places.
The change to cool and windy should mean the start of the end for a large algal bloom in the Murray River. The algae stretches from about Albury to Echuca, several hundred kilometres.
