The weather plays a key role in this event as crews need to prepare for what mother nature may bring their way. It is also important to the spectators who need to know whether to bring their sunglasses or a poncho.
With the event kicking off yesterday, the weather has been spectacular with crystal clear skies and temperatures climbing to 31 degrees, six above what Melbourne typically sees this time of year.
If you're heading out today, much of the day will remain dry with temperatures still a few degrees above average, nearing 27 degrees. Cloud will be on the increase with the chance for a late shower but will not affect the racing.
These light and isolated showers will stick around for the start of Saturday, but the afternoon should dry out to just mostly cloudy skies.
The big race will come on Sunday as a low and trough speed towards the southeast. The Formula 1 Grand Prix should win out though, as much of the heavy rain will hold off until overnight after what will be a sweltering day.
