Saturday saw a cold front whip through Melbourne, with strong, gusty southerly winds in its wake. These cool winds reached Sydney after midday, eventually bringing a few showers and low cloud. Even yesterday, Melbourne only got up to 14 degrees, and Sydney 15, both below average.
But winter has more in store for our capital cities. Adelaide will be embraced by the cold too. A front will bring a chilly wind change during Tuesday evening, with a maximum temperature on Wednesday of just 16.
The change will reach Melbourne early on Wednesday morning, delivering showers and a wintry top of 13. Snow will develop on the New South Wales and Victorian alps on this day as well; the snow level will descend to 1100 metres overnight.
Thursday will be the cold day for Sydney, starting off at nine degrees and peaking at only 16. But don't worry: for those who are sick of the rain it should stay dry the entire day.
Friday will be a cold morning across NSW, VIC, TAS and SA alike, with frosts likely on the ranges and inland locations.
