The conference embraced an updated format with a greater focus on practical business sessions and was moved from the traditional Melbourne location to Bendigo in the heart of Central Victoria.
“We’ve had two days of full houses and constructive discussion. I have been extremely impressed by the quality of debate and the number of farmers who have voted with their feet in terms of our organisation’s ongoing relevance,” Mr Broad said.
“Our members have unanimously embraced the constitutional changes we need to modernise our organisation. These changes will ensure the VFF is more democratic, more cost effective, more broadly based and positioned to deliver members with even stronger representation.”
“I would like to congratulate the three passionate and committed members who have been elected to our Board: Vice President Peter Tuohey, Junior Vice President Ailsa Fox and Treasurer David Jochinke.
"These tightly contested elections have demonstrated the enthusiasm which remains alive within the VFF.
“Max Blackmore was elected as the Central Region Councillor in the VFF Water Council ballot."
Mr Broad also thanked board members who stepped down from their positions: Bob Watters, Aeger Kingma and Rien Silverstein.
Shadow Agriculture Minister John Cobb spoke on the last day of the conference, discussing the important link between food production and access to water.
