Small businesses will be eligible for further assistance under a $1.35 million initiative to support economic recovery and employment in Marysville and Triangle and the Kinglake Ranges.

Premier John Brumby last week announced the Victorian Government had partnered with the Salvation Army and Pandora jewellery to announce a new small business support program to drive the re-establishment of small business destroyed or damaged by fires in the region.
The package provides new grants for small businesses re-establishing in the Marysville Village of up to $25,000 towards significant capital works and up to $10,000 towards smaller capital works and marketing of small businesses re-establishing in the Marysville and Kinglake regions.
Under the Small Business Support Program two separate grants will be available:
Marysville and Kinglake Grants: Grants of up to $10,000 will be available to support minor capital works and marketing of small businesses re-establishing in Marysville and Triangle and the Kinglake Ranges. All eligible businesses will have to show a decline in revenue or more than 50 per cent since the fires.
Rebuilding the Marysville Village Centre Grants: Individual grants of up to a maximum of $25,000 will be available on a competitive basis to support medium level capital works for small businesses who want to re-establish in Marysville’s main village area.
Mr Brumby said the new Small Business Support Program would make available grants to support capital costs involved in re-establishing businesses to drive jobs, business confidence and economic growth in bushfire-affected regions.
“This fund is the next step in recovery. It is about supporting small businesses to re-establish in Marysville and Kinglake and to generate new jobs and grow economies and I encourage businesses to apply.”
Salvation Army Communications Director, Major Brad Halse, said the Salvation Army was pleased to continue its support of businesses in the most severely affected.
“Rebuilding businesses is an essential component in the recovery of the local economy and will assist in alleviating the suffering and maximise the potential for community benefits and jobs,” Maj Halse said.
The Commonwealth and Victorian governments have also partnered to establish a $10 million stimulus package unveiled in March in grants to encourage new businesses to establish in bushfire-affected areas.
