MLA is seeking applications by October 1, 2010, for projects running over three years for on-farm demonstrations of research and development outputs.
MLA communication and research adoption (on-farm) manager Angus Hobson said the PDS program aims to help producers fast-track the adoption of technological advances and new management practices.
“The grants support producer groups to adapt R&D innovations to their local environment, helping to make it commercially viable and environmentally sustainable,” he said.
“PDS projects are initiated by producers to develop new practices and technologies. The program supports groups to engage facilitators who can help design a rigorous demonstration site, and collect and analyse data.
“Producer groups most commonly partner with state departments of primary industry extension staff, animal health and catchment management officers, universities and private consultants to take up the opportunity to accelerate the adoption of R&D outputs.”
Funding support is available in the spring round for producer groups involved in sheepmeat and southern beef (temperate) production. Applications close 1 October 2010.
