Similar contracts have already closed in northern cropping zones, while a shut-off date is yet to be declared for Western Australia.
AWB’s general manager of commodities Mitch Morison said it would be the last chance for growers in south-eastern Australia to take advantage of the premium.
“Growers have already signed up significant tonnages with AWB, generating confidence with offshore customers and desire to purchase from AWB, thanks to our ability to execute early positions; this means benefits right through the logistics chain,” he said.
On current values, it will lift estimated pool returns in the eastern pool for the flagship APW paygrade from $345/t to $355/t.
Mr Morison said WA growers were being given slightly longer to make up their minds due to the season there.
“Our ECP contracts will be available in Western Australia for a little longer to give growers maximum flexibility, including for noodle wheat, although growers should still expect a closure announcement relatively soon,” Mr Morison said.
