DMD agents quoted the 4000-head sale as fully firm on recent local markets, with the best of the young ewes selling well. Older ewes, mostly offered in smaller drafts, proved to be good buying
A run of 99 Glendonald-blood Merino ewes, June/July 2009 drop and March shorn, offered by Thomas Moll, Nhill, earned equal top-price honours at $152.
Breeders also made to $152 for a stand-out line of 192 Panorama-blood Merino ewes at 3.5 years and September shorn.
Merino ewes at 4.5-5.5 years sold from $98-$131, although such older drafts sold at cheaper rates than recent comparable sales.
A pen of 77 first-cross Border Leciester/Merino ewes at 6.5 years made $111.
Merino wether lambs sold from $81-$88.
Buyers attended from the Wimmera and the Western District.
