Before a sparse crowd bidding, although slow-going, achieved expectation as crossbred ewe maidens, unjoined, made to $232 while maiden Merino ewes re-affirmed a stronger market selling mostly between $155 and $196 a head.
A pen of well grown crossbred ewe lambs, April/May-drop, October shorn made $190 while fattening type lambs made $87 to $103.
The sale which was delayed a fortnight by wet weather, local flooding and closed roads, yarded a much number than was initially intended.
Offering some 7000-head, attending buyers also saw the potential in most lines despite a lack of bloom washed out by the rain.
The line-up comprised a high percentage of lots relocated from Western Australia. Most of the Merino lines were large framed, plained bodied types ideal as prime lamb breeders.
