A post-Christmas treat was unwrapped at the Warrnambool F1 female sale Wednesday when prices soared $250 a head above expected to average $400 to $500 higher than this sale a year ago.

Offering a smaller presentation of about 1000 head over all prices under extreme competition peaked at $1650 for the January/February calving pens, pregnancy tested in calf, while unjoined heifer sales rose as the best sale made $860.
All up joined and pregnancy tested in calf lines made from $1125 to average $1360 while unjoined heifers made from $660 to $730.
Buyers from the southwest of Victoria, South Australia, Gippsland and central Victoria competed.
