KANGAROOS are almost seven times more likely to be killed on Victoria's country roads than any other animal and police are urging motorists to drive carefully.

Kangaroos were victims of 2275 car crashes in Victoria in the past six months, research by the RACV revealed. The highest animal-related incidents were in Heathcote, then Bendigo, Halls Gap and Sunbury.
Victoria Police warned motorists to adjust their speed according to conditions and drive cautiously when on country roads, particularly at night.
'Share the road not only with other road users but also with the wildlife that lives in the adjacent paddocks and forests,'' Bendigo highway patrol's acting Senior Sergeant Craig Gaffee warned drivers.
