SHEAR Outback, The Australian Shearers’ Hall of Fame, is currently accepting nominations for the induction of shearing legends.
The Australian Shearers’ Hall of Fame honours shearers whose skill, character and contribution to the shearing industry has been exceptional.
A shearer will be assessed for induction into the Australian Shearers’ Hall of Fame against the following criteria:
1. The nominee must be classed as a very good shearer. Skill, speed, endurance and technique will be considered. These may be measured by confirmation of shearing prowess, and peer assessment where possible.
2. The nominee must have made a significant contribution to the industry.
This contribution could include:
- Teaching and shearer education;
- Organisational, representational or advocacy roles;
- Inspiration and encouragement of other shearers;
- Creativity or innovation in shearing;
- Promotion of increased public understanding of shearing.
Induction celebrations will occur over Easter Weekend, April 4-5, in 2015.
The full nomination criteria and the nomination forms can be obtained by contacting Shear Outback on info@shearoutback.com.au.
Closing date for nominations is August 31, 2014.
