CASHED-UP local restockers pushed powerhouse feedlot buyers to their limits at Kyneton’s annual weaner sale on Wednesday.
Contesting a quality yarding of 1550 head, the repeat buying of the local pasture-feeders saw selling rates further improved on south-western sales held earlier in the month as bidding climbed to average 240 cents a kilogram livweight across the predominantly Angus, Hereford and Charolais steer yarding while heifers averaged almost 223c/kg lwt.
A market top of $975 a head was paid for a 16 pen of Angus weighed at 430kg, and sold by J Hale of Kyneton while a standout yard of 368kg Angus steers, 368kg, offered by Barfold Beef spun the calculators out to 255c/kg on their sale price of $940/head.
Teys Australia, Charlton feedlot and Thomas Foods International, Murray Bridge were the major feedlot operators on the day back up by a solid interstate order provided by Elders Tamworth, NSW.
